"Supporting the social development of young people who are blind or partially sighted explains why some children who are blind or partially sighted need additional support to make and maintain friendships. To encourage the development of social skills, empathy and emotional literacy, this book sets out practical approaches including individual support for young people with sight loss, activities with peers and working with parents. For friendship to succeed, it is crucial to have peers who can empathise. So this book also provides fun resources that help sighted people gain a better understanding of the impact of sight loss. These activities are suitable for primary school children, secondary school learners and the adults who work with them, both in and after school."
